3 Octaves Ahmedabad

Go, enjoy your Sunday at a new hangout joint – 3 Octaves.

Food. Music. Art. Repeat! In any order! Opening on Sunday 26th May 2013.

3 Octaves is the new entrant in the café world of Ahmedabad – it’s a new hangout joint that promises to showcase something new in music, art & literature.

While for music, they have a jamming pad where the aspiring music maestros can jam day long; for writers, readers & artists it has a special corner; and of course for people like you & me – they have great food. What else … you get to enjoy new music, meet new talents and hang out at the same time.

The light-weighted comfy chairs, generally used as outdoors, gives you an easy & free feeling. And then you have lights – few are hanging / few are standing! :).

The awesomeness in the food is yet another thing to look out for. Check out the description on food for their names. Cost for two – around 400.

The Hawaiian Ice in Ahmedabad

Customizing or dressing your gola with flavors of your choice is not probably new. Whats new here is the variety of flavors and the way they prepare it. They say it’s the American way! Choose the size of the cup, choose your flavor out of more than 15 flavors, choose your toppings or concoctions, relieve your thirst and feel blessed!

The place is hygienic and has a very customer friendly approach. Be it the machine that they use for crushing ice or the types of flavors or the presentation – they have tried to bring in new in everything that they are doing.

Remember your choice of flavors & toppings or concoctions should be good enough. You will master the art of choosing the right options only after you have tried a couple of combinations; but till then try what we have tried:

Bubblegum + Coconut
Peach + Cake batter + kachi keri + bubblegum
Chocolate + Coffee
Rose + bubblegum
Cake batter + chocolate

If you are wondering why Aditya (owner) named it Abululu, we won’t tell you though we know the answer. There is a sweet reason behind the name. Don’t forget to ask Aditya the reason when you visit them

I Love Food

I am a Amdavadi by heart… I am a foodie…

I was born in Ahmedabad and my schooling also was completed in this city. That initial period of my life here was glorious. Ahmedabad was inviting me to start a new journey just as my life had started. I had mentioned my desire of moving to Ahmedabad several times to my wife. Moving to Ahmedabad was like a dream come true for me.

The last days in Bangalore before shifting to Ahmedabad were not really the way I wanted them to be. The days were a little rough and I was frustrated. I lived through the same mood even after I boarded the flight and even until I landed in Ahmedabad and came out of the airport, but the sight of the yellow sun shining upon the known land, the smell of the land, the familiar buildings changed me totally; I was like the hero in a movie who comes back to his country after decades. The moment he enters everything is in slow motion, well movements around me were not actually in slow motion though.

Well, it has been close to a year now and life has changed too…new friends, new places. I have realised that as I have changed during the years of my stay in Kerala, even Ahmedabad has too, a lot of changes… places have changed, the lifestyle of people has changed…but one thing that hasn’t changed is the food, the food here is as tasty as ever and the people here are foodies as ever… During my stay here I’v checked out several new food joints here with friends, with my wife and every new place I visit gives me more and trust me there is no place I have eaten till now which serves bad food, be it a road side gaadiwala.

My wife who knows my love for food, one day suggested that I should check out the site of CityShor Ahmedabad. I had seen ads of CityShor earlier but I hadn’t taken them seriously. But when my dear one suggested it, I couldn’t say no and yes, I am glad I considered CityShor. CityShor is a new-age setup which showcases good choices for food, fashion, entertainment, etc. If you have taken a look at their website http://www.cityshor.com/, you would know what variety they have been suggesting. Fast food joints, gaadiwalas, high-end restaurants, eateries with a difference. And the food they choose, the photos they upload are just WOW! The same is the case with their other categories, i.e., fashion, entertainment, Ahmedabad Tourism, home décor and so on.

If you haven’t read through their briefs on the various places, it’s time you do it now. I have made up my mind to definitely try a few places.
Love food…love cityshor!!!

HOT IDLI - Quick Gun Murugan!!

_MG_5601_MG_5618_MG_5657_MG_5686_MG_5687feature_MG_5700_for website_MG_5728_for website

How do you define Authentic South Indian Food?

We discovered the answer at “HOT IDLI” ( mieendd itt! )

So finally after so many trials, we landed up at this place and if you ask whether it lived up to our expectation … we say NO. It exceeded. When we say “authentic” they mean it – right from ingredients, raw materials (except vegetables, milk & oil) to staff to the way they serve to the way they talk to their hospitality … everything is perfectly South Indian.

Time for some food talk!! Just can’t believe that we ate all these. Pongal (mind it, that’s not just a festival), Open Butter Masala Dosa, Butter Masala Khichiya, Rava Idli (hint of green color), White Rassam, Thali (with 8 bowls of different dals, veg, papad and rice) and Onion Bhajiya with awesome chutney are just WOW.

If you’ve not eaten here, you are yet to know the authentic food from South.
